Mid Bedfordshire District Council(MBDC) must provide 17,000 homes upto 2026 as set out in the Draft East of England Plan, of which 12,500 have already been "committed" i.e. allocated in previous plans or with planning permission. This leaves around 4,500 that still need to be planned for. MBDC intend to focus development around the larger settlements, but approximately 400 new homes up to 2026, are to found in the 39 villages in the county.
Landowners and Developers were asked to make submissions in respect of the total figure, and it is these submissions and sites that are part of a major consultation exercise co-ordinated by Vision Twentyone.
Go to http://www.talktomidbeds.co.uk - click on the map, and then on the particular area you are interested in. There is a link in the first paragraph of the page, that links to more detailed information in respect of the submissions made.
The Society has made representation via Vision Twentyone to MBDC and copy of this may be found in the Representations and Document Library.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
Following the initial consultations a further 70 submissions have been put forward and are due for consultation in July. These additional submissions are now viewable on the same web site as before. Interestingly the web site now contains the landowners submission documents and are worth a read.
